Disabling Automatic Email Forwarding

Overview

By Fall 2026, automatic forwarding of all college email to non-college accounts will be disabled for all faculty, staff, students, and administrators. While this will be enforced at a system level, you can disable this setting yourself in preparation.

Issue

Disable Forwarding in Outlook on the Web

Go to your college Outlook Webmail login page and sign in with your college credentials.

Click the Settings (gear icon) in the top-right corner

Select Mail → then click Forwarding

Deactivate “Enable forwarding”

Click Save.

Disable Forwarding in Outlook Desktop Application

Open Outlook on your computer

Click the File tab (top-left corner) and click Settings.

Select Mail → then click Rules

In the Rules window:

Look for any rule that says:

“forward it to…”
“redirect it to…”

For each forwarding rule:

Uncheck the rule OR select the rule options and click Delete rule.

Verify Forwarding Is Disabled

Send a test email to your college account from another email address. Confirm that the message arrives in your college inbox and the message does NOT appear in any external email account automatically
